Denver weather is an exercise in adaptability. Snowing one day, blistering hot the next. This day was absolutely gorgeous: sunshine, breeze, and the loveliest flowers in bloom in my neighborhood!
I'd been eyeing these flats for a while, as I've been trying to invest in more practical footwear, and finally decided that they needed to be mine. The plimsoll sneaker has been in fashion for a while, but I hadn't ever seen any this unique! Done in an oxblood suede with a pointed toe (a favorite shape of mine), the embellishment on these totally caught my eye. Each flower petal is 5 sequins laid on top of each other, and the center of each flower is a little emerald green stone!
I really wanted to play up the funkiness of the shoes, and emphasize the retro look. I went with a simple green frock to bring out the color in the shoes, and wore an off-white bomber jacket around my waist to tie in a laid-back skater vibe (and cover my bum).
Definitely sportier than my usual digs, but with the season change, I've been inspired to remix my pieces in new ways. Especially because if I can't find a way to wear them, I have to donate them! Yay summer!
